Carla Hands, M.Ed., is a dedicated education professional with a passion for fostering academic excellence and personal growth in students. Carla has over fifteen years of experience in various roles within the education sector. Having coached basketball, volleyball, and softball for more than 10 years, Carla understands the importance of teamwork, leadership, and mentorship in shaping young minds both inside and outside the classroom. This experience has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the challenges and triumphs that students face in their academic and personal journeys.
Carla has worked diligently to advance her career in education while continuing to make a positive impact on the lives of every student she encounters. After completing her Master's degree in School Counseling in 2021, Carla transitioned into the role of a guidance counselor, where she was instrumental in providing support, guidance, and resources to students in need. Carla holds an Associate's degree from the Community College of Rhode Island, an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice from UMASS Boston, and a Master's degree in School Counseling from Cambridge College.
Carla believes in the power of education to transform lives and is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. As Sharon’s METCO Director, Carla is dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, and to ensuring that all students have access to quality educational and extracurricular opportunities. With her wealth of experience, passion, and commitment to student success, Carla is poised to make a lasting impact in the METCO community and beyond.
