PURPOSE
For 29 years, the METCO Directors' Association (MDA) awarded annual scholarships in honor of the former Scituate METCO Director, Florence M. Howes. This scholarship bestowed over $40,000 for METCO seniors to pursue their post-secondary academic endeavours. Upon the dissolution of the Florence M. Howes Scholarship, the MDA has continued the tradition of honoring the tremendous hard work of our deserving METCO youth by providing financial assistance through the MDA Scholarship fund. In 2024, this scholarship was renamed in honor of Dr. Jean McGuire, a lifelong teacher and activist and the Executive Director for METCO for 42 years.
