New METCO Director Seeks to Build Bridges

Jessica Castro’s alarm goes off at 4:45 a.m. each morning in Boston, so she can get her seventh-grade daughter to the school bus by 6 a.m. and then head north to her new job as Marblehead’s METCO director.

“Our days are long, but we love it!” Castro said.

Castro – whose daughter is a METCO student in Bedford – started in Marblehead in July and has hit the ground running. She has visited classrooms in every school in town and met with teachers, administrators and families – in Marblehead and Boston.
